Background:With development of treatment to cardiovascular disease,early mortality has been greatly reduced in heart disease patients,but there are more and more patients with chronic heart failure.With the continuous extension of human life, myocardial aging has also become another important reason for failure.Although the incidence of heart failure around the world vary,but showed an upward trend. Only the United States,adults(>25 years old) prevalence rate of heart failure is 1.5%~2%,there are about 500 million people,and an annual increase of 50 to 70 million,of which 2/3 for coronary heart disease,followed by hypertension and idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy,about 200,000~300,000 people died of heart failure.Our country the prevalence rate of heart failure also have an upward trend year by year,disease spectrum has also undergone a significant change.Patients with heart failure not only seriously affects the quality of life and the lives,medical costs are staggering,only the United States annually treatment costs on heart failure consume billions of dollars,according to Framingham statistics,serious heart failure mortality rate of 2 years up to more than 30%,6-year mortality reach 70%,the prognosis is even worse than the malignant tumors.Braunwald believe the most important questions of cardiovascular disease problems of this century are heart failure and atrial fibrillation.Therefore,to further strengthen the research about mechanism of heart failure is an urgent need.In recent years,more and more scholars pay attention to the relationship between Sex hormone levels and andcardiovascular disease.some reports have recently prompted that human cardiovascular system benefit from androgenmen. Androgen have immunomodulatory properties,in many disease models(although there is no HF),not only in vivo but only in vitrowere androgen significantly inhibited macrophage cells to produce cytokines)(such as TNF,IL-6,IL-1) and so on.The correlation of Androgen levels and cytokines was a negative in human.Added gonadotropin can inhibit high levels of cytokines in patients with male sexual function.Added low gonadotropin can inhibit male sexual function in patients with high levels of cytokines.These findings prompted the level of androgen may be the response of the severity of HF and its prognosis in male patients.In heart failure patients,increased blood concentration of BNP as a result of increased ventricular volume or pressure load.Plasma BNP levels not only accurate diagnosis of heart failure,but also has a very high negative predictive(excluding standard) value. NT-proBNP is so.Studies which BNP with other neuroendocrine and inflammatory factors predict the prognosis of heart failure have shown that patients with heart failure after treatment despite improvement in symptoms and LVEF,but BNP and plasma levels of IL-6 is a lasting increase in death and complications in patients with heart failure independent risk factors,and such as NE,ET-1,ANP,TNF-a or higher LVEF predictive value.At present,research about the relationship between testosterone and BNP is less.Therefore,to explore in this issue,the relationship between serum testosterone and BNP levels will be studied in patients with chronic heart failure. ObjectivesResearch on the correlation of Serum testosterone with serum BNP in patients with chronic heart failure.MethodsJuly 2007~December 2008,62 cases of male patients were diagnosed in our hospital,aged 60~85 year old.Based on the New York Heart Association(NYHA) classification criteria for cardiac function,there are 12 patients with gradeⅡand 34 patients with gradeⅢand 16 patients with gradeⅣ.Diagnostic criteria:patients were selsctioned in accordance with New York Heart Association classification of cardiac function.Emission standards:exclude renal insufficiency(creatinine>2.5mg/ml),severe liver dysfunction(aminotransferase>2 times normal),acute myocardial infarction,cancer,slow gallbladder disease,diseases of the nervous system,blocking pulmonary disease,hyperthyroidism,pregnant women. Determination of Serum testosterone by radioimmunoassay method,Determination of serum BNP by electricity chemiluminescence.In strict accordance with the specification requirements of kit reagent preparation and control of various reaction conditions the concentration value calculated.Analysis of data was SPSS13.0;All measurement data were expressed through the mean±standard deviation.statistical analysising through paired t-test and spearman correlation.When P<0.01,Statistics is significance.ResultsSerum testosterone before and after treatment was respectively(3.13±1.06) ng /dl,(7.97±1.82)ng/dl,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Serum BNP before and after treatment was respectively(6820.69±2899.62)pg/mL, (1184.75±981.13)pg/mL,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).ConclusionIn patients with chronic heart failure,serum testosterone after treatment were significantly higher than pre-treatment by the drug,and serum BNP level before treatment was significantly higher than that after treatment by the drug;spearman correlation analysis show that there was a significant negative correlation between serum testosterone and serum BNP.
