This article is based on the study of the acupuncture treatment to the peripheral facial paralysis (PFP). The evidence came from the documentary classification , theoretical discovery , clinical research and statistical analysis . The author have studied PFP and made the primary discussion and summary.The peripheral facial paralysis is very popular .We can find it at any age. We are easy to be suffered in spring and fall. PFP happens suddenly and caused by the attack of the wind . Most of the patients find one-side facial nerve paralysis in the morning at first ,and the examination shows : wrinkles on the paralyzed face disappear. The eyes can't close completely. Air can leak from the corner of the mouth .The nasal and labial groove has turned shallow and the whole mouth has slanted to one side .The patients can't frown , show teeth ,plump mouth and whistle .In the Chinese traditional medicine ,this disease can ascribed to koupi ,facial paralysis and distorted of mouth and eyes Neijing mentioned this disease first .It urges the principle of the cause should be the weakness of the Qi ,vain of meridian and collaterals and the evil Qi take the advantage of the weakness of body to interrupt the function of the Yangming and Shaoyang .and to block the movement of Qi. The muscles can't get the nourishing, so they become paralyzed .Recently, the study on the PFP made a great progress. This article is based on the past and current documentary, aim to summarize and analyze the causes , modern and TCM treatment . Method:1. in the clinical observation, choose 50 qualified patients ,divided into 2 groups randomly by the tickets they have . Treat group use the filiform needles to needling slightly in the acupoints , the choose group use the electrical needles. Main acpoints are : bilateral Fengchi, Hegu , Taichong. Support acupoints inthe meridian of the paralyzed side :Yifeng , Xiaguan , Quanliao, Dicang, Xiaguan, Jiache and Touwei .Symptom acupoints : the flat nasal and labial groove adds Yingxiang and Heliao;the distorted nasal and labial groove adds Shuigou;the distorted cheek groove add Chengjiang . close eyes incompletely adds Cuanzhu,Taiyang,wrekles disappear adds Yangbai. Differentiation syndrome acupoints : heat syndrom adds Dazhui, liver wind adds Laogong ,blockage of Qi in liver adds Neiguan ,Yanglingquan Juegu. Weakness of Qi and blood adds Quchi and Zusanli. blockage by wind and phlegm in the meridians adds Fenglong and Lieque.2. Treat group :take the couple main acupoints , 3 same meridian acupoints and 2 couple differentiation syndrome acupoints each time ,the rest acupoints takes in turn .After regular sterilized ,use the 1 inch filineedles to slightly perpendicular needling about l-3mm in the skin .When the patients get the needle sensation ,leave the needles in the skin for 30 min and use the TDF to radiate the paralyzed face at a modest temperature ,every 9 minutes goes around. Once a day, 6 times a week and 2 weeks is a period of treatment .When a period is finished ,take a 3 days break .They will take 3 periods at last.3. choose group .selecting acupoints and operation methods are the same to the treat group .When the patients get the needle sensation ,add electrical therapy.The filiform needles will fixed on the G6805-1 electrical needle machine ,use sensitive and sparse wave for 30 min. Once a day, 6 times a week and 2 weeks is a period of treatment .When a period is finished ,take a 3 days break .They will take 3 periods at last.4. based on the Japan neurology committee's facial neurological function evaluation standard [59](charter 1) and Life quality gauge . (charter 2). Statistical analysis use Microsoft Access XP and SPSS 12.0, use the team t test to compare the mean of 2 groups and the Ridit analysis to the pair t test. The results show: there is not significance difference between 2 groups in gender and age(P>0.05) . But in the curative effect ,there is significance difference between 2 groups (P<0.05) .In the treat group, symptoms improves dramatically . 22 patients recovered,2 patients has sound effect, 1 patient has effect .No one got better, no one has no effect .The curative rate is 88%. In the choose group, 16 patients recovered,3 patients had sound effect,4 patient had effect .One got better, One had no effect .The curative rate is 64%. In the treatment period and curative effect , the treat group has 13 patients came to our clinic within 10 days (5days mean ) when they found PFP. 10patients recovered, 2 patients has sound effect, 1 patient has effect .One got better, One had no effect .The curative rate is 76.9%. There are 12 patients in the rest of the treat group . They came to our clinic after 10 days (12 days mean) . 5 patients recovered, 2 patients has sound effect, 3 patients has effect .2 got better, One has no effect. The curative rate is 41.6%. Used Ridit analysis ,we found the former and the latter has significant difference (P<0.05) . The further clinical evidence showed : when 36 times full period finished ,there isn't significance difference between the former and the latter, but the former needed less treatment times for recovery apparently. So the author urges: the sooner , the better. Conclusion: From Lingshu and Acupuncture jiayi classic , we can found the documentary about the acupuncture treatment to the facial paralysis . WHO also recommends the acupuncture treatment as one of the best methods . Needling on the paralyzed face in the acupoints of Hegu, Jiache, Xiaguan, Yangbai, Dicang can mediate the Qi and blood ,exclude the cold from the meridian and collaterals, improve the symptoms , replenish the Qi , expel the evil and prevent the it come again .They are good to the recovery of the patients . At the same time we use shendeng (TDF) radiate the paralyzed face can cause the internal heating and biochemical reaction , adjust the human body's generating field and improve the symptoms .Conclude briefly: subsidence of a swelling ,diminish the inflammation ,relieve the pain ,alleviate the leakage ,accelerate the metabolism and prompt the recovery and regeneration of the organs .So we can take the acupuncture as a applicable method.
